Major Responsibilities

The Sports and Leisure Manager is responsible for implementing service standards and guidelines that are consistent with a 5-star Hotel and train staff to carry out and follow these guidelines. Manager must lead and guide the staff in a manner consistent with Centara’s management philosophy. Manager will be accountable for all Dept. operations which include setting and achieving goals that are in accordance with the Hotel Management’s objectives including but not limited to financial and membership targets.

Daily Duties

Operations
1. Co-ordinate with Assistants/Supervisors to control all operational aspects of the dept.
2. Develop service standards and procedures and staff training guidelines.
3. Be visible and accessible to all members and guests.
4. Ensure dept, operates at maximum efficiency and profitability at all times.
5. Ensure the dept. is in a safe and clean condition at all times.
6. Perform daily inspections to ensure standards are being adhered to, noting and rectifying deficiencies immediately.
7. Communicate daily with Assistants, Supervisors and staff.
8. Strictly enforce Dept and CHR policies and procedures through assistants and supervisors.
9. Provide strong leadership and management, serve as a role model to staff, and lead by example.
10. To enforce guest recognition program through greeting and biding farewell.
11. To handle guest feedback/complaints and to ensure effective guest recovery process is implemented.
12. Be constantly aware of activity in the dept. to ensure that unsafe and/or disruptive behavior does not take place.
13. Professionally enforce dept. rules and regulations and ensure it operates at maximum efficiency.
14. To ensure cleaning and hygiene standards comply with governmental rules and regulations.
15. Keep Staff informed of events and changes throughout the dept.


Administration
1. Control the development of Budgets and Forecasts with Assistants, GM and GSLM.
2. Review daily open and close checklists.
3. Review daily revenue report and monthly P & L and propose recovery action.
4. Review and follow up on all outstanding or in process work orders.
5. Ensure all Management/operational meetings are attended by a representative from Dept.
6. Guide Assistants in the planning and organizing of dept. activities and classes.
7. Control inventory of guest supplies and resale items in the pro-shop.
8. Ensure Assistants provide a monthly report covering the following areas: Operations, Administration, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources & Development and any other important information.

Sales & Marketing
1. In control of the development of marketing materials for Dept promotion, ensure that GM. And GSLM is informed of all activities.
2. Set an example for the staff to follow to turn every guest contact into a sales opportunity by informing guests of the following: Current or upcoming specials in the dept. or hotel, monthly membership gatherings and introducing other services.
3. Provide ongoing sales training to enable staff to turn every guest contact into a sales opportunity.
4. Responsible for ensuring the Membership Sales targets are being met and provide guidance and ideas for new recruitment.

Human Resources/Development
1. Interview, hire, discipline and terminate staff together with RM when necessary.
2. Interview, select, and hire part time aerobic, dance, and martial arts instructors along with GM
3. Develop training guidelines and co-ordinate with assistants and supervisors to communicate those guidelines with staff.
4. Write employee performance reviews.
5. Strive to improve English communication skills in staff.
