- Preferably degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M) Degree recognized by the Veterinary Council of Thailand (VCT)
- Must have good Computer skills.
- Must have good spoken and written conversational English.
- Good knowledge of working with small animals is an advantage.
- Open Water SCUBA certification from a recognized training agency an advantage
- Current diver’s license open water or higher SCUBA certification level are required.
- Experience with aquatic veterinary science is an advantage.
- Experience with marine mammals and zoo animals is an advantage.
- Experience in working in public aquariums an advantage.
Responsible for the monitoring of management of animal health, vet laboratory, nutrition, environmental quality, water quality and psychological well-being, quarantine and daily care of a living collection of all animals at Aquaria Phuket.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide treatments for any sick or injured animals.
• Provide in-house vet laboratories and lab analysis such as completed blood count, blood differential count, cytology and clinical pathology diagnosis.
• Establish annual health checks and preventive medicine program for animals in the collection.
• To perform diagnostic procedure to determine cause of death for all dead animals (Postmortem, histopathology, etc.).
• Record keeping for all procedures done on any animal in the collection (treatments, postmortem, etc).
• Provide a monthly summary on treatments, postmortems, preventive medicine and health checks.
• Ensures that all lab equipment and clinic areas are maintained and fully operational and that an inventory of clinic/veterinary consumables is maintained.
• Ensures that the quarantine facility is fully operational and that daily activities related to cleaning, maintenance, feeding and other husbandry activities are undertaken on a day-to-day basis, including routine checking of tanks exhibits and LSS areas.
• Diving as required including animal health check and or treatment diving, following company diving safety protocols and procedures and performing tasks to schedule and to an appropriate quality.
• Any tasks as per job descriptions and assignment by head of department.
